Ways to Become Healthy in 14 Days

Want to become a very healthy person? Follow these steps and you'll be on your way to becoming a very healthy person.
Healthy Diet
The most important factor in transforming the body is your diet. You will become what you want to be only when you eat what you ought to eat. Maintaining a poor fast food diet would make you gain fat and lose muscle mass. Follow a strict diet with a lot of fruits, skimmed milk, nuts, a lot of veggies, legumes, lentils, and limit your carbs.Avoid drinking alcohol and don't smoke cigarettes. Drink lots of water throughout the day and control your urge for food with avocado juice and other fruits.
But first, you need Eggs. Yes! Eggs need additional care and importance on the topic. You have got to eat more eggs and workout a lot to reduce your fat level and increase your protein consumption. Eggs consist of all the nine amino acids for muscle growth (which burns fat more).Cut off your smoothie's consumption and eat more eggs. White eggs are good for your body. Take that yolk out and use it as a hair product. Eggs give you a testosterone boost which helps you maintain an active lifestyle. As the old saying goes: you just need one hen and cow when asked to choose from a list of animals.
HIIT and Tabata
If you want to see visible results in a few days or few weeks' time you should work very hard. Sweat is fat crying! And so, get to the gym! After active stretches, hit the treadmill and do a lot of fat burning, circuit training workouts after that. High Interval Intensity Training (HIIT) is the best way to improve metabolism. Burpees, jumping jacks, and high knees will be your best friends. Tabata is the ultimate level of HIIT workouts. Within 4 minutes, your whole body will get tired, and you'll be gasping for breath.
Strength Training
If your aim is to lose weight as well as an increase in strength, then follow this pro-health tip: Start doing squats, deadlifts, overhead press, bench press, and rows. Your body will thank you for the hardcore workout sessions. Within 45 minutes, you'll leave the gym but, the benefits these exercises bring to your body is phenomenal. The legendary 5*5 program will create a massive growth of healthy growth hormones. Invest in a pair of good weight training shoes and start killing fat in the rudest of ways ever known to humanity. The Milo of Croton is the best example of strength training.
Active Lifestyle
Sedentary office jobs and online markets have placed a high amount of risk to our body. We should get up and start thinking about the world, walking down the corridors of workplaces. Quit workstations for every one hour and drink more water. Never carry a bottle of water to your workplace. Always get up and take a few steps before quenching your thirst. Never sacrifice your time to do office work. Your body is walking to the grave, and you should delay the journey by all means.
After waking up, drink water and start doing yoga. Get to work. Get up from the seat every one hour. Eat a power packed lunch filled with veggies and scrambled egg whites. Get to your home. Wear your shoes and go to the gym. After a beautiful steaming session, eat your dinner and hit your boozy bed.
Sleep
You can't get your desired physique by just eating good food and keeping your cortisol levels low. You should get proper sleep for the body to recover properly. Drink milk before bed to stop the intensity of catabolism. A lactose-allergic person can grab a pre-dinner snack and then go to sleep. Most of the people reading this piece will fall into the category of an endomorph (People who have low metabolism and accumulate fat easily). Adequate sleep is necessary to build quality muscles and low-fat levels. Sleep like a child for 7-8 hours and continue your fat burning sessions in the morning.
Life - The most beautiful of all
Remember to appreciate life and don't be fooled by lame stories of people trying to shut you down. If you want something, you should go and get it. Set the alarm and wake up early in the morning to finish off cardio workouts, HIITs, and killer Tabata. Leave home early to go to the gym. Become confident after seeing your body in the mirror after a week. This arduous journey (if you think that way) shall take you to your fitness goals within six months.
In a year, your friends, relatives, and colleagues will start asking you about your fitness routine. Stay positive and take at least 8,000-10,000 (WHO's report) steps per day to become healthy and virile. Motivation is the key to succeeding! Stay healthy by reading and working out with these healthy tips.

Heat Stroke: Common Symptoms, Treatment and Prevention

Heat stroke, also known as sunstroke, is a dangerous malady that happens when your internal body temperature rises above 104 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celsius). Caused by high temperatures, if gone untreated, could lead to damage to many of your internal organs, including your brain. Avoiding this, especially in the hot summer months, is very important. The simplest way to ensure staying healthy is by drinking lots of water. Drinking water can be made more enjoyable by adding flavors, or by motivating yourself with a reward for drinking more than 8 cups of water each day.
Heat Stroke Symptoms
  • Vomiting
  • Headache
  • Confusion or agitation
  • Muscle weakness
  • Not sweating in the heat
  • Seizures
  • Nausea
  • Fast pulse or rapid breathing
  • Fainting
  • Loss of appetite
Heat Stroke Prevention
  • Stay hydrated! Staying hydrated prevents you from losing too much liquid in your body by sweating.
  • Wear loose clothing. As much as you want to wear as little clothing as possible, wearing loose, billowy clothing is actually much better for keeping you cool because of how little it actually touches your body, while also protecting you from the sun's harmful rays.
  • WEAR SUNSCREEN!!! This should go without saying, but sunscreen should be applied regularly, and only contain SPF 30 or higher.
  • Try to avoid being outside. Less exposure to the sun means less risk.
  • Try not to drink very much alcohol or coffee. Both of these drinks are dehydrating, and being hydrated is one of your main defenses against heat stroke.
  • Avoid heavy exercise
  • Invest in a fan. For a floor fan, try this bestselling, oscillating one.
  • Eating foods with heavy water concentrations, such as watermelon, cucumbers, and celery
Heat Stroke First Aid
  • Call 911 immediately if you suspect someone has heat stroke. The longer you wait for medical treatment, the worse the condition.
  • Keep them as cool as possible. Move them to an air-conditioned area, if you can, or at least as far out of direct sunlight as you can find.
  • Put them in cold water, such as a shower or bath. Natural bodies of water work too, as long as they're cold and the patient has no risk of drowning.
  • Fan them while spraying them with cold water.
  • Put them in an ice bath, BUT only if they got heat stroke from exercising. It's dangerous to put children or senior citizens in an ice bath, and especially if it wasn't sustained while exercising.
  • Put ice packs in sensitive places close to blood vessels. Ice packs are best around the neck, armpits, groin, back, and inner knees. You can buy a pack of 24 disposable ice packs, and keep them in your first aid kit in case of an emergency.
  • Have them drink lots of water
  • Check their body temperature regularly
  • Make sure they're lying down, with their feet slightly propped up
Higher Risk for Heatstroke Included People with:
  • Diabetes
  • Alcoholism
  • High blood pressure
  • Physically exhausting jobs, such as gardening
  • Recreational drug usage
  • Mental illnesses
  • Certain medicines, including antihistamines, diuretics, SSRIs, antipsychotics, and heart medicine.
Never leave children or pets in the car on a hot day. Between the year 2000, and 2017, over 500 children have died from being left in the car. Pets, especially dogs, are even more susceptible to heat. The inside of a parked car can quickly reach 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Leaving a window cracked does not do very much, and it has been recommended that you bring your pet to the storefront, and leave it in the shade with a bowl of water, if possible. Children have occasionally been forgotten in the back seats of cars. There are many ways to avoid this, such as leaving your wallet in the backseat next to them. If a child is left on purpose in a car, the guardian can be liable to prosecution.
Swimming may be a good way to keep cool, but always remember to drink water and apply sunscreen. Another way to keep cool and have fun this summer is to explore some. Museums and libraries typically have air-conditioning, along with some interesting things you might not have seen before. Heat exhaustion is often a precursor to heat stroke, so if you feel fatigued after spending some time in the sun, get to someplace cool as soon as possible, and start rehydrating.

The Best Ways to Get Rid of Leg Cramps

Have you ever been struck by a sudden, painful leg cramp? Most of us have at some point, and it's not a pleasant experience. All we can think about is how to get leg cramp relief. Most of the time the leg cramp will disappear as fast as it came. But what about those leg cramps that won't go away no matter what you do? There is relief. Check out the leg cramp remedies below to find out what people have found most helpful. These leg cramp treatments have been tried and tested by millions of people for hundreds of years.
• Stretching
One of the reasons people get leg cramps is that they are overusing a particular muscle. So, if you are working on a specific task, try changing your position or using other muscle groups. If you are stationary or lying down, try to get up and stretch periodically. The key is that you don't want your leg muscle overworked. At the same time, you don't want your leg muscles lying idle, such as when you are sitting in a chair all day either.
• Water
Most of the time leg cramps are caused by dehydration. This one is an easy fix, but it's something that a lot of people neglect. Try to drink plenty of water throughout the day, especially if you continue to have cramps. A lot of people don't like drinking water, so grab a drink such as Gatorade if you don't like the taste of water.
• Hot or Cold
For those leg cramps that don't seem to go away, a hot or cold press is sometimes needed. Take a cold towel or an ice pack and apply it to the area of the cramp. Sometimes a heat pack will work better. You will have to experiment to see what works best for you. You can buy small heating packs or even a small heating pad at Amazon.com relatively inexpensively if you shop around. An ice pack is generally used by most people, but buying a small heating pad could be a worthwhile investment.
• Massage
Massaging the area is the most common technique that most people try. The great news is that it works! Just remember to take it slow, and don't apply too much pressure. You want to slowly work the leg cramp out. Gently massage the area surrounding the cramp and work your way directly over where it hurts. Don't try to rush it. Go slow until the muscle starts to relax and you feel relief.
• Vitamins
Your muscles need a lot of different vitamins. Lack of vitamins, such as B12, have been associated with nocturnal leg cramps. You can take a multivitamin to help give your muscles the vitamins and minerals your muscles need. Be sure to talk to your doctor before taking any medication. Allergies and other relevant information are important to let your doctor know.
• Keep Legs Warm During the Winter
Keeping your legs warm in the winter can also prevent leg cramps. No one is sure why the cold causes leg cramps, but many have speculated that the cold could cause the leg muscles to contract. Leg and foot warmers can be found at places such as Amazon or your local department store.
• Foot Bath/Soak before Sleep
If you decide to try a foot bath, make sure you use epsom salt. Epsom salt contains magnesium which will absorb into your skin to help with cramps. You can also try mixing in some apple cider vinegar which is high in potassium. These two minerals are electrolytes, which carry the electric signal to your brain for muscle contraction and relaxing.
• Moving
If leg cramps hit you at night, sometimes it's good to get up and move around. A cramp is caused by a muscle not relaxing. So, by moving you can reset that process in your brain by causing the muscle to contract and then relax again.
• Calcium
A lack of calcium can cause leg cramps as well. Calcium is an electrolyte, which, when low, will not allow your leg muscles to relax. Eating foods such as milk, cheese, and yogurt, which are high in calcium, can help. If dairy products don't work for you, eat things like broccoli, sardines, or kale, which are all high in calcium as well.
Most of the time leg cramps are caused by something that is preventing your muscle from relaxing, so you may need to experiment to see what works for you. Just remember to keep hydrated and try to stretch periodically throughout the day. If none of these methods work, then you may need to see a doctor. Sometimes a doctor can prescribe a vitamin that your body is lacking. So, follow up with your doctor if you feel that you may have a more serious problem.

Why Is It Important to Save a Child's Cord Blood? Raise Awareness

The month of July is observed as the National Cord Blood Awareness Month. After a baby is born, the special cells from the remaining blood in the umbilical cord and the placenta helps to cure any kind of serious diseases. Our advanced technology helps us to collect and store the blood with the help of the private cord blood banking companies. Saving the blood and storing it is completely safe for the baby and won't cause any ruckus in the labor or delivery.
Hematopoietic stem cells are present in the cord blood, which can turn into any kind of blood cells and can be used in all kinds of transplantations namely cancer, immune deficiencies, blood disorders and more on. Let us see the importance of saving the child's cord blood through the points mentioned below:
Safeguard the future health of your family:
Stem cells found in the cord act as a building block in the tissues, organs and bone health. They also help to fix the injured or damaged cells for the child or any of the family members. You are giving your kid an opportunity to protect him/her during any severe medical complications. It is a lifesaver for families with genetic disease. Over 80 percent of the diseases are said to be cured using the stem cells. Relying on these are much easier when compared to the bone marrow, which needs an exact match.
It will also help to treat any medical condition of the sibling. When you see it as an investment, there won't be a second thought about not doing it.
Raise Awareness:
In the ancient days' people used to throw out the blood cords, only in the recent past, we realized the value of cord blood and started to save them for the future. Rather than saving it at home, getting it done through a proper medical team helps to retain the power of it for a long time.
It is a must to get the word out to everyone, especially for the expectant parent or anyone who knows an expectant parent. When you are donating your cord blood, you are giving someone back their life, courage and willpower to fight against the disease they are suffering from, which is pretty amazing.
The cord blood and the tissue must be saved within minutes after the delivery. Hence, it is a must to decide about the saving procedures of the cord during the third trimester of the mother. Educate yourself and others about the importance of saving it. By consulting a medical practitioner about the stem cell storage, you can get to know more details on this.
Distributing pamphlets, personalized accessories like wristbands, rings, key rings with messages about the cord saving, helps people understand the seriousness of it.
Conclusion:
Details mentioned here are not considered to be a substitute for professional medical advice. It is a must to seek the advice of your doctor or other qualified health provider before you speak with the cord bank.

Pediatric Dentistry for Toddlers and Preschoolers

Pediatric Dentistry for Toddlers and Preschoolers
We’ve all heard about a child’s "terrible twos," but have you heard about the "thorny threes" or the "finicky fours"? Let’s face it, raising a child is not easy, no matter what age, but that doesn’t absolve anyone from their parental responsibilities. One of the most overlooked aspects of parenting is probably pediatric dentistry and oral care. Since baby teeth are fall out anyway, it doesn’t really matter, right? Wrong! Kids need to develop strong healthy teeth early on because it will affect their speech, eating habits, jaw growth, and more! To ensure your child is getting the best oral care, check out our pediatric dentistry guide for toddlers and preschoolers below:
Learning to brush
Your child’s first set of baby teeth should have all come in by the age of 3, but you can teach them to brush their teeth much earlier than that. In fact, it’s a good habit to clean your child’s mouth before the teeth even before their first teeth erupt. There are many soft finger brushes you can use to gently scrub away milk build up or food debris on your child’s gums and tongue. Babies are very perceptive and this simple routine is the first of many good dental habits your child will need to maintain strong and healthy teeth.

Once your child is ready to move onto a real toothbrush on their own, it’s a good idea to supervise their brushing the first few times as they get the hang of it. Here are a few easy steps to teaching your child to brush:

Show them how to grip the toothbrush correctly. The toothbrush may seem like a toy to them, so you need to show them to use and care for it properly.
Demonstrate how brush and have them practice without toothpaste. Have them practice the motions on a doll!
Give your child a pea-sized amount of toothpaste. Kids can have trouble not swallowing foam or toothpaste, so you don’t want to use too much. Toothpaste can be toxic when ingested in excess.
Brush your teeth with your child! Make brushing time family time. It’s also a good way to check if they’re brushing thoroughly, even in hard-to-reach areas. You can set a timer for two minutes or watch a fun video during this time to make sure your child is brushing long enough.
Rinse. Keep a cup nearby, so your child can quickly and easily rinse their mouth after they brush their teeth.

And of course, don’t forget to floss afterward! Flossing can be hard for kids, so you may want to get them dental flossers or kid’s floss for your little ones. Make sure they get well under both sides of the gums to remove all the food debris and plaque. Once your child is all done, ask them to flash you their pearly whites! Give them encouragement and praise for a job well done.
Motivating good dental hygiene habits
Teaching your child to brush and floss is one thing. Actually getting them to do it a completely different accomplishment. It can be frustrating having to remind your child to brush their teeth every day, but it’ll pay off in the long run. Try one (or all) of the following tips:

Establish an oral hygiene schedule. Time is relative and your child will remember to brush their teeth in relation to other specific activities right before or after they brush. For example, you can let them watch their favorite show right before they brush their teeth and help them change into pajamas right after. Doing the same things every single day at a specific time will help them remember when to brush.
Reward your child after they brush their teeth. Give them a high five or sing a lullaby when they remember to brush their teeth all on their own.
Put on a show. Kids love a little drama, so exaggerate how bad their breath smells when they don’t brush their teeth. After they do brush their teeth, tell them how gorgeous and sparkly their teeth look.
Tell a story. Children respond better to stories. Read them a story about the importance of oral care or tell them your own personal experience! They’ll probably relate to the character and understand the importance of brushing from that character.
Scare them a little. Rotten teeth look pretty scary, whether you’re an adult or a child. Don’t go overboard, but show them pictures of what could happen if they’re not diligent about their dental care.

Brushing twice daily and flossing nightly is the best way to prevent unwanted cavities. Having strong healthy baby teeth is important because those teeth hold the space for adult teeth. They also promote bone and bite development.
Using fluoride
Once your child is 3 or 4 years old, talk to your pediatric dentist about introducing fluoride into your child’s dental routine. Fluoride is a naturally occurring component that is known to remineralize the teeth, making them brighter and stronger. It’s already present in the water that we consume, but it can also be applied topically.

Fluoride comes in many different forms. The pediatric dentist probably has a highly concentrated fluoride treatment they can give patients in-office, but there are also drugstore brands that can be used to strengthen the enamel to protect against cavities. There are lots of brands of fluoridated mouth rinse and toothpaste that are also child-friendly.

Just remember to ask your pediatric dentist what an appropriate amount of fluoride is. While fluoride is great, overconsumption of it can lead to fluorosis, a condition that causes the teeth to have white or brown spots.
Weaning bad habits
Habits that are totally fine for babies can be very harmful for toddlers. Drinking from bottles and sucking on pacifiers or thumbs should be reserved for infants. Having an obstruction in the mouth all the time can cause the jaw and teeth to form in an abnormal shape. Having an incorrect bite can lead to unattractive crowding, impacted teeth, or gaps for adult teeth. It can even lead to bruxism and jaw disorders that are painful and expensive to fix.

While there are ways to fix these issues (palatal expanders, retainers, early orthodontics, etc), it’s much easier to prevent them! Next time your child asks for the bottle or a pacifier, give them a regular cup or sippy cup to drink from. They’re less likely to sip on that for an extended period of time, which also reduces the risk of cavities. There are also lots of thumb guards or decorative strips you discourage your child from thumb sucking.
Eating healthy
Toddlers and preschoolers have a lot of growing to do, so they need energy from their food to do it! It can be hard to get kids to eat their fruits and vegetables at a young age, but you can easily disguise those foods when they’re baked in pastas or served with rice.

As you probably know, kids also need calcium and vitamin D to develop strong bones and teeth. Children can get their vitamin D from the sun (along with sunscreen), but calcium is mostly derived from the diet. Dairy products like cheese, milk, and yogurt are the usual go-to items that kids like to eat, but they can also get their recommended calcium intake from enriched plant-based products and vegetables as well!

One item you want your child to avoid is sugar. Unfortunately, many products that are marketed as healthy are actually full of sugar or fat. Always check the ingredients list before purchasing to ensure you’re getting what you really want. While your child can and should enjoy the occasional treat, supervise their consumption and have them rinse their mouths after. Bacteria feed off of sugar, creating acids that damage the enamel. This is what causes cavities, gum disease, and tooth decay. Yuck!

Last but not least, toddlers and preschoolers need to see the pediatric dentist just as often as you see the dentist. A checkup and cleaning every six months will help keep your tot on track to having a stunning smile!

At Epic Dentistry for Kids, our pediatric dentist is trained to work with children at every stage of development. Dr. Patterson can provide nutrition counseling, oral care guidance, dental cleaning, and more for young patients. Not only is he great with kids (he has two of his own), his education in pediatric dentistry includes communication and behavior management, so he can definitely handle toddlers with grace. If you’d like to learn more about pediatric dentistry, give us a call and we’d be happy to answer any questions.

A Beginner’s Guide to the Perfect Hair Extension

Here are a few things that you need to know about hair extensions when you are looking for the perfect one for you.

Weaves

Weaving is one of the oldest and popular ways of wearing hair extension. Your natural hair is styled into cornrows then the weave is sewn into it. This method does not harm the hair, and it is ideal if you want to grow out your hair. You will also have your style done in a very short time. Weaves, however, can be very heavy and are an inconvenience. You need to weigh out other options before settling for a weave.

Clip in Extensions

This is one of the most popular and less expensive forms of hair extensions. They are also the best options for beginners because they are easy to take out should you change your mind about them. Clip in extensions come in different colours, sizes, and lengths which can be styled to suit your taste. They are a great semi-permanent look should you want a quick look for an event that you can easily take down later.

Bonding

If you want to invest a little more into your hair, then you should go with bonding. These extensions are ideal for a long term look and will give you a flawless look once you have them on. Bonding extensions can last for 6 months, but you will have to sit in the salon for a very long time to get them fixed on your hair. You can also choose the thickness you want with this look.

Micro Rings

Micro rings are a more comfortable way to wear long and thick hair. They are a very common tool among salons today. The micro rings are made from plastic and silicone and are coloured to blend into the natural hairline. The extensions are attached to the hair and flattened so that you can easily brush, wash and style your hair as you desire. The rings get loose over time as your natural hair grows and you will have to visit your hair stylist to tighten them every few months.

Tape in Extensions

This is one of the latest designs of extensions and has gained popularity pretty fast. These extensions are perfect for a longer look; they are light and can be styled as desired. Tape in extensions also don’t damage the scalp and will let your natural hair grow easily. They are also quick to put on, and you can be in and out of your salon in under an hour. You can get this hair extension central London area with one of the best stylists in the industry.

Remember to  have your hair extensions done by a professional so that you do not damage your hairline or scalp in the process. Hair extensions can suit your need regardless of what type of look or style that you are going for. When choosing a hair extension, you should also keep the following in mind:

Colour: hair extensions come in very different colours, you can get a black, blonde, pale, and even a red hair extension. You can choose the colour that perfectly matches your hair, or you can choose a slightly different colour to blend into your hair for a different look.

Length: even though most extensions are long, they can still be cut to your perfect length, and you should not shy away from buying some just because of their length. Have your stylist cut them to the length of hair so that you can be comfortable.

The Benefits of Acupuncture for Infertility

There is no doubt whatsoever that fertility is declining in the West. According to scientists at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, sperm counts among men have more than halved over the last 40 years and are still declining at a rate of 1.4% per year. The problem is that nobody knows why. It could be that planet Earth is wiser than we know. Over recent years populations have been expanding at an ever-increasing rate.

The UK population in 1900, for example, was 38 million. In the 1950's it was 50 million. Today it is 65 million, and at the present rate of progress is expected to be 75 million by 2050. That represents a 50% increase over a period of just 100 years. Maybe our planet has decided that the world population needs to be reduced in order for it to be sustainable.

Whatever the reasons, there is no doubt about the anguish felt by many couples unable to conceive. Medicine in recent years has expanded the options for those struggling, and we now have IVF, fertility drugs, donor eggs and embryos, and intrauterine insemination (IUI), among other things.

However, these treatments can be horrifically expensive and beyond the budget of the man and woman in the street. IUI, for instance, can run into tens of thousands of pounds. Thus, it is not surprising that people are seeking other alternatives, and some have turned to Traditional Chinese Medicine, and fertility acupuncture in London together with Chinese herbs in particular.

There is no doubt that acupuncture increases fertility rates. Just recently, a study carried out by Tel Aviv University reported that when used in conjunction with Western treatment IUI, Traditional Chinese Medicine increased conception rates by nearly 40%. Of a control group who received IUI but no acupuncture or Chinese herbal therapy, just 39.4% were able to conceive. This compared with the test group who achieved a 65.5% success rate.

Traditional Chinese Medicine has a history going back at least 3,000 years, and the beginnings of acupuncture are believed to go back to the Stone Age when sharp edged tools were used to puncture the skin to drain abscesses. However, acupuncture in the West only began to be noticed in 1971, when New York Times journalist James Reston suffered from appendicitis when in China and had his appendix removed with the usual surgery. His post-operative pain was treated with acupuncture, and he wrote about it in the paper, which was the first time many people in the West had ever heard of it. Today, the use of acupuncture for many problems, including infertility is more and more common.

One of the causes of infertility is stress, and there is no doubt that we live in an age which is more stressful than it has ever been. It can prevent a woman from ovulating entirely and can also create spasms in the uterus and fallopian tubes which can interfere with an implanted egg. In men, stress can reduce sperm counts, motility, and cause impotence. Acupuncture treatment for infertility can have the effect of reducing stress by releasing endorphins in the brain.

The most common cause of infertility in women is a hormonal imbalance and this can prevent the release of a mature egg from the ovary. Prolactin is the hormone that stimulates the production of breast milk and high levels of that can also prevent ovulation. Another problem can be shortage of progesterone which will prevent the foetus from attaching itself to the uterus.

According to medical research and several studies, acupuncture can increase fertility by reducing stress, increasing blood supply to the reproductive organs, and also balancing the endocrine system. By increasing blood flow to the uterus and ovaries, there is a better chance of the egg being nourished and carried to full term.

Modern acupuncture consists of insertions of very fine disposable stainless-steel needles into the meridians at specific points. This is believed to balance the flow of qi, or energy, along the meridians, or pathways, to the various internal organs. When the flow of qi is disrupted for any reason, pain and disease result, and by returning this energy to the way that it should flow naturally restores good health.

The Very Basics of Chinese Medicine

In the West we tend to think of medicine as something that we take internally, either a liquid or a pill. However, Traditional Chinese Medicine – also known as TCM – embraces far more than just a pill or something in a bottle, and includes such things as acupuncture, moxibustion, massage therapy, cupping, Chinese herbs, and more.

Chinese herbs alone include leaves, roots, stems, flowers, and seeds of plants, such as cinnamon bark, ginger, ginseng, liquorice, and rhubarb. However, they don't only include parts of plants but also deer antlers, tiger bones, rhino horns, snake bile, and minerals such as arsenic, mercury, lead, and even asbestos. So the term TCM is very wide ranging. Furthermore, depending on whose figures you believe, TCM dates back anywhere between 2,200 and 5,000 years. Whichever figure is correct, it certainly has a long history.

What most people agree is that TCM is described in the earliest known written record which is from the 3rd century BC and is called Huangdi neijing (The Yellow Emperor's Inner Classic). This describes the theoretical concepts that still remain the basis of Chinese medicine in London today which is that there are two opposing, yet complementary forces in the body – and indeed in the entire universe – known as yin and yang.

When these two forces are in balance and in harmony, the body is healthy. It is when they become out of balance that illness sets in. TCM seeks to restore the balance between yin and yang and bring the body back to health and wellbeing. Every phenomenon in the universe can be divided into yin and yang. So yin is the moon and yang the sun. Yin is cold, yang is hot. Yin is female, yang is male. Yin is water, yang is fire. These concepts can certainly be traced back to the Shang dynasty from 1600 BC – 1100 BC.

In addition, there is the five elements theory which maintains that everything in the universe can be broken down into wood, fire, earth, water, and metal.

According to TCM there are twelve (or some say fourteen) meridians, or channels, in the body through which run qi, which is simply energy. When the qi is flowing freely through these meridians which run from the skin to all the major organs, yin and yang are in balance and the body is healthy. It is when yin and yang become out of balance that the qi is unable to flow as it should to the various organs and ill health is the result.

Acupuncture is one of the most common ways to treat the problem. Acupuncture uses very fine needles which are inserted into the skin to a depth of perhaps ½ an inch into what are known as acupuncture points along the meridians. Again, depending who you believe, there can be 365 of these acupuncture points or as many as 2,000. Today, acupuncture needles are made of stainless-steel and are for one-time use.

The acupuncturist inserts the needles into a combination of points along the meridians which will depend on the particular problem that the patient has. Obviously, this takes some considerable time and practice to learn. The needles may also be manoeuvred by hand, or may have a small electrical charge attached to them in order to stimulate the acupuncture points. The acupuncture needles are usually left in place for between five and fifteen minutes. Electroacupuncture has been found to be particularly helpful when treating neuromuscular problems. Acupuncture is also sometimes accompanied by moxibustion which is the burning of small amounts of herbs on the acupuncture points.

The whole purpose of acupuncture is to bring yin and yang back into balance and thus restore the normal flow of qi through the meridians.

Acupuncture needles are as thin as hairs and are only for one use. Most people may feel slight pain as they are inserted, but nothing that is severe. However, for people with needle phobia the acupuncture points may be treated with acupressure which is the use of fingers to apply pressure to the point. It may take several visits to the acupuncturist before significant improvement of the condition is seen. However, when practiced by a licenced, trained acupuncturist, the method is extremely safe.

How Often Should I Change My Toothbrush

To keep your teeth and gums healthy, following appropriate dental care is essential. You know this includes brushing your teeth twice a day, especially brushing your teeth before going to bed and flossing daily. Caring for your teeth also means minimizing sugar, including high-sugar fruits, soft drinks, gum, and candy and seeing your dentist for regular checkups and professional teeth cleaning.

Even following these steps may not be enough to keep your teeth and gums healthy if you’re not taking appropriate care of your toothbrush and replacing your toothbrush in a timely manner. To learn more about taking care of your dental hygiene equipment, keep reading.

Let’s start with the basics of dental hygiene - why is it so important to brush your teeth?

When you eat and drink, your teeth get coated in a thin, sticky substance called plaque. Plaque is filled with bacteria that will damage your teeth and gums, and brushing your teeth and flossing removes the particles that cause plaque and feed bacteria. If the plaque isn’t removed, it hardens on your teeth into tartar, which erodes your tooth enamel, damages your gums, and leads to tooth decay and gum disease. Plaque can be removed simply by brushing at home, but tartar removal requires a professional teeth cleaning from your dentist.

Ask Your Dentist for Toothbrush Recommendations
Now that you know why you need to brush regularly, let’s look at finding the right toothbrush for your unique dental hygiene needs. First, an electric toothbrush or a manual toothbrush are both fine, as long as it’s been approved by the American Dental Association (ADA). When you select your toothbrush, you need to make sure you’re choosing a brush that can easily reach every part of your mouth, including the areas behind your molars.

Just as important as selecting a size and shape that allows you to reach every part of your mouth is choosing one with the right bristles. A brush with harder bristles does not get your teeth cleaner than a soft-bristled brush. In fact, the opposite is true. Brushes with medium or hard bristles can be too stiff and abrasive which leads to injuries on your gums and damage to your tooth enamel. That can lead to long term dental problems, including tooth decay and gingivitis. If you don’t know what kind is best, reach out to your dentist and ask for recommendations!

You most likely get a toothbrush at your regular, six-month dental checkups, so that must mean your toothbrush should last for six months, right? No. You should actually swap out your toothbrush or change your electric toothbrush head every three months at most or if you see wear or fraying on the bristles before then. A worn-down brush is much less effective than one in good condition.

Additionally, if your brush has been stored near someone else’s and they’ve been sick or if you’ve been sick, it’s time to replace your brush. Otherwise, germs can collect and make you sick!

Speaking of germs on your toothbrush, make sure you rinse your brush after every use and store it vertically in an open-air setting where the bristles can dry easily. This means don’t use the closed "travel containers" for more than keeping a brush in your carry-on when you travel. Storing it in an enclosed container promotes faster bacteria growth.

The Year of the Vegan

The Economist magazine has announced that 2019 is "The Year of the Vegan." This is an extraordinary statement. According to research, within a very short time—four years, to be exact—not only countries but the world has been impacted by individuals choosing vegan food substitutes over meat.

In other words, you and I have made daily decisions as to what to purchase and eat that have changed—and are continuing to change—world economies.

If you ever wondered whether we as individuals could transform the world, whether we could make it a better place for all living beings, then look no further. We are, we have, and in just 4 years.

Choice is powerful.

This brief article gives us hope that human beings are not only looking out for their own health and happiness, but they are—we are—striving to reshape the world. Its focus is on millennials, for wherever "millennials lead, business and governments will follow." However, from where I’m standing, the responsible parties for this sea-change are not only millennials but Gen-X, Gen-Z, Baby Boomers, and all concerned citizens worldwide who want to model compassion and use the power of choice to do so.

The Economist indicates how big industries like McDonalds are taking notice of this trend and how vegan food companies are thriving in the marketplace, noting the tremendous sales of Beyond Meat and Vivera (a Dutch enterprise whose vegan steak is in significant demand in Europe).

Calling them "transformative technologies," The Economist suggests that vegan industries—in both food and cloth production—are good investments and the wave of the future. These industries, accordingly, will help reduce "the environmental hoofprint of animal husbandry."

This is a huge statement, to bring climate change into the foreground! Is The Economist suggesting that we promote industries that combat climate change because they are both morally good and economically sound? I hope so.

The good news for us (and the planet), is that the veg diet is no longer deemed a hippie, alt-left trend. It’s fast becoming mainstream, and its popularity intersects gender, age, culture, race, political camps, and economic differences. What better way to bring us together—all of us—than through our shared interest in the veg lifestyle, one that guarantees overall health for ourselves, for our children, for the animals we share this planet with, and for the planet itself.

Achieve Your Weight Loss Goals By Following These Tips

Losing weight can be tough, and most people could do with losing a little. But, there's so much conflicting information out there on what to eat and what not to eat. This article will help you be able to make some informed decisions on what you need to do.

Have dessert. Depriving yourself of food isn't going to make you feel any better, and may not help your weight loss goals that much. The key to eating dessert is to only have a few bites of a decadent dessert, or to enjoy a dessert that is just as delicious but not as high in sugar and fat.

A good tip for people are are trying to lose weight is to eat fruits and vegetables that are in season. Foods that are in season tend to taste better than foods that are not. This will makes switching to healthier eating habits more enjoyable too.

Look for a calorie counting program online and keep track of all of the calories that are in the foods you eat. It may even be able to give you the amount of calories that are in foods that do not have a nutrition label.

One of the best ways to start your weight loss program is to find ways to reduce the stress in your life. Stress can cause cortisol levels to rise and keep blood sugar levels unstable, thus resulting in unneeded weight gain. Stress can also make you more likely to overeat when you are upset about something.

To increase your motivation to meet your weight loss goals, post pictures of yourself on the refrigerator. You can post a picture of yourself when you were at your ideal weight on the refrigerator. This will help keep you on track during those times when you are tempted to raid the refrigerator for something that isn't on your acceptable foods list.

When you are working in an office and possibly have lost track of time, you may feel yourself getting hungry. It is always a good idea to stock your desk with healthy snacks instead of running to the vending machine which is not economical or providing you with healthy options to satisfy your body.

Weight loss is mainly done through the changes in your diet, but that doesn't mean that you should ignore the advantages that can come by participating in sports or exercise. These things will help to increase the calories that you spend, which will in turn help you to lose weight more quickly.

In order to lose weight faster, combine a healthy diet with a sensible exercise regimen. While each of these practices leads to weight loss, their effect when combined is exponentially greater than their effect individually. A good diet gives you more energy and improves your workouts. Exercising helps your body burn the energy a healthy diet provides.

If you are looking for a diet that will work for you, try your local library. There are so many diets out there these days that it is difficult to know what will work for you. Instead of spending your money on book after book that you can't use, head to the library and check out a variety of different diets. Once you find something that works for you, you can go ahead and purchase the books.

A great tip that may help you lose weight is to ditch all of those breakfast cereals that contain way too much sugar, and eat oatmeal instead. Oatmeal is one of the best sources of carbohydrates around. The energy you get from eating oatmeal will practically fuel your whole day.

To avoid eating more than you should, only eat when you hear your stomach growling. There are many people who eat out of nervousness, boredom, or some feeling other than hunger. Waiting until your stomach is growling is an assurance that you will only be eating when your body needs it.

As long as you remember to try out at least some of the information in this article, you'll be able to make progress. When it comes down to it, losing weight is just a simple equation. As long as you are determined to apply yourself to it, and are willing to experience some short-term discomfort, you will have no trouble losing weight.

Get a Four Hand Massage in Mayfair

A four hand massage is an intensely relaxing and satisfying bodywork. In this rubdown therapy, two masseuses work on one client. They make use of synchronised moves to deliver relaxation and take the client into a deep state of tranquillity. Good masseuses treat the recipient’s body as a canvas and perform various choreographed, detailed and slow moves in varying pressures and paces. Since two therapists are simultaneously working, you can expect to experience double the relaxation than other normal massage therapies. This is mainly because two therapists are able to cover more ground that two hands cannot. So, at all times, different parts of your body will be catered to.

A four hand massage means fewer distractions

Experiencing complete relaxation is often impossible because it is difficult to tame the mind. The slightest distraction makes the mind active. If your mind is constantly trying to figure out the next moves of a therapist, it will become an obstacle on your path of getting the relaxation that you deserve. So, if you face similar issues when getting a normal two hand massage, the ideal option for you is to get a four hand massage in Mayfair.

When four hands of two masseuses hit your body, your mind is bound to react differently. Initially, you might find yourself trying your best to keep up with the therapists and what each one of them is doing. However, the struggle becomes real and real quick, and it becomes difficult to keep everything on the head in a logical order. That is when the mind gives up control and allows both your body and mind to fall into a deep state of trance.

A four hand massage is known to be a very powerful treatment for anyone who has a really hard time letting go of themselves during massage treatments.

Benefits of a sensual four hand massage

With two therapists working on your body at once, you can double all the benefits of a normal two hand massage. Given below are some of the perks that you can enjoy.

Increased relaxation

Irrespective of what massage you are getting, relaxation is one of the main goals. By making use of two therapists, a four hand massage provides more relaxation than the traditional rubdown therapies. The amount of relaxation is increased as four hands are able to cover various areas of your body. Whilst one of them is working on ironing out the knots in your lower body, the other can work on your upper body. So, the relaxation is even and throughout the body. This is why this treatment is regarded as the solution to a stressed and tensed body and mind.

Stress relief

In today’s competitive world, it is quite easy to feel stressed out. But, this treatment provides relaxation for not just your body, but also your mind. Two therapists work simultaneously to reduce stress and tension in the muscles. It helps to reduce cortisol, which is a stress hormone. You will walk out of this appointment feeling like a rejuvenated and new person.

Female company

Do you miss female attention? If so, a four hand massage can take care of that for you. This rubdown therapy will have two masseuses looking after your needs. With two masseuses catering to your requirements, you will certainly become a happy man. There are agencies that will let you select masseuses of your type.

A four hand massage is a perfect solution to your physical, mental and emotional stress. This rubdown therapy is performed by two gorgeous therapists and there are agencies that offer both incall and outcall services. You can choose to invite your chosen masseuses to your private residence or hotel suite and be able to completely relax and enjoy.

However, before you take an appointment, ensure that the agency is trusted and provides discreet services.

Causes of Cerebral Palsy During Childbirth

The underlying cause of all cases of cerebral palsy is the same. Cerebral palsy is caused by damage or developmental defects to the areas of the brain that control the movement of the body and coordination. Brain damage resulting in cerebral palsy can occur in the later stage of pregnancy, during labor & delivery, or shortly after birth. The exact source of brain damage can vary greatly. According to the American Pregnancy Association, 20% of cerebral palsy cases are caused by labor and delivery events and 70% are attributable to events during pregnancy.

Oxygen Deprivation: Oxygen deprivation (asphyxia) to the baby's brain is one of the leading causes of cerebral palsy. Throughout pregnancy and childbirth, a baby's brain is in a very vulnerable position. The brain needs a continuous supply of oxygen & blood. If the circulation of blood and oxygen to the baby's brain is interrupted or restricted during, damage to brain cells can occur in a matter of minutes. There are a wide variety of obstetrical complications and events during pregnancy and childbirth that can threaten the supply of oxygen to the baby's brain.

Maternal Infections: Maternal infections during pregnancy, labor, and delivery can potentially cause damage to the baby's brain resulting in cerebral palsy. Recent studies have shown that during pregnancy viral infections such as rubella and cytomegalovirus; and parasitic infections like toxoplasmosis can damage the baby's developing brain and result in cerebral palsy. Infections of the placental membranes and amniotic fluids (chorioamnionitis) can also damage brain cells in the baby and cause cerebral palsy.

Premature Birth: Babies that are born prematurely are 30 times more likely to be diagnosed with cerebral palsy compared to full-term babies. One of the main reasons for this is premature babies frequently experience brain hemorrhages and periventricular leukomalacia (PVL) - both of which cause the type of brain damage that results in cerebral palsy.

C-Section Delays: When complications arise during labor and delivery, a timely emergency c-section can be the only way to avoid oxygen deprivation and brain damage to the baby. Unfortunately, mistakes are sometimes made by doctors in the delivery room and emergency c-sections are not always performed when they should be. Even a very short delay in performing a c-section can damage the baby's brain and result in cerebral palsy.

Head Trauma: External trauma to the baby's head during childbirth can potentially cause the type of brain damage that results in cerebral palsy. During a vaginal delivery, the baby often becomes stuck or has difficulty passing through the birth canal. When this occurs doctors will often use devices such as obstetrical forceps or vacuum extractors to dislodge the baby and facilitate delivery. Using these devices requires a high level of skill because they can easily cause an excessive level of force on the baby's head and cause internal damage.

Healing Addiction - A Spiritual Approach Part 1

What is addiction really and can a person truly heal from it? And why do some people suffer so much while others never do? The relevance of this topic is clear. In the United States, 11 million people ages 12 or older misuse prescription drugs and 886,000 people use heroin and opioids. Mental health issues are off the charts and countless numbers of people live their entire lives in sadness and anger.

In a recent interview, Debra Laughlin, founder of Worthiness Academy, discussed the many facets of her organization and what she’s doing to change the state of pain and suffering on this planet. Her goal is to show people that they matter and their gifts and beauty are needed in the world. Laughlin also shared her personal journey to eliminate addiction in her own life. Through her journey, she has come to believe that all people can heal and live a vibrant, joyful and empowered life.

Laughlin has been studying shamanism for almost 30 years and considers herself a medicine woman. One of the specific programs Worthiness Academy offers is the Addictive Personality Paradigm (APP), a Deer Tribe Metis Medicine Society (DTMMS) publicly offered program of which Laughlin is one of the few qualified specialists. APP, within its ceremonial framework, offers an understanding and healing of the addictive patterns and behaviors. This unique approach is fresh, empowering, and realistic.

Habits, Addictions and Addictive Personalities

Laughlin reviewed the definitions of habits, addictions and addictive personalities during our recent interview in her Phoenix home. She sheds light on some of these mis-labeled terms. For example, Laughlin defines a habit as something that you can take or leave. An example of a habit might be someone who runs or works out at the end of the day to unwind. When stressed, most people will automatically go to that habit, which can, in some circumstances, lead to an addiction. The habit of running transforms into "I have to run or else I can’t relax".

Laughlin goes on to describe addictions as going beyond habits. They are rote patterns of behavior that involve substances, like drugs, food and alcohol or behaviors, like gambling, workaholism and co-dependency. Laughlin says, "every time you get emotionally challenged, where you have feelings you don’t know how to deal with, you’ll go to that substance or behavior."

Laughlin also describes addictive personalities as people with addictions - not habits - that they have become material to who they are. They are never without an addiction, because when one is resolved, another will pop up.

Laughlin emphasizes that "people are not happy" with addictions, but they are mostly functional. She says "because their self-growth is not a priority, they don’t reach their potential. Instead, they create dysfunctional patterns of behavior that grows stronger, more intense, and harder to break. Their addictive personalities take over and they numb their pain and create the illusion of pleasure. Substance or behavioral addictions are their way of "coping with life’s challenges".

The Addiction Spectrum

Obviously, there is a spectrum when it comes to addictions and addictive personalities. Our cultural view of an "addict" is someone who uses all the time. And yet, as Laughlin points out, all of us have imbibed in something too much at one time or another. You can have an addiction and not have an addictive personality. A few of the questions she challenges us to consider are:

What caused the over-indulgence?
What did we do afterwards?
And how many ‘happy hours’ do we need?

Laughlin shares this example of cigarettes on addictions "people can have addictions where they do have a pattern of consistently going to that substance. Cigarettes are a potentially addictive substance. The key is this - do they cross over and look for other things? If you were really pressed, could you quit smoking and not look for something else?"

Laughlin describes her father, "His ‘medication’ was to go out, drink, make poor decisions, engage in other addictive behaviors, get up in the morning, go back to work and start the cycle over again. So, it’s that consistent need for the medication that drives an addictive personality."

Like all self-destructive behaviors, addictions always provide a secondary gain. For the addictive personality, it’s finding an end to perceived pain. The crux of the matter though, is that indulging in an addiction that can only ever give you short-term relief and perceived pleasure.

Laughlin says "whatever you are doing gives you a sense of ‘oh, this isn’t pain - it must be pleasure. In truth, it creates long-term pain, because you haven’t dealt with the issue. So, you are never really free."

"White knuckling" is a term Laughlin describes in reference to addictive personalities. Laughlin says "you may be able to get rid of one addiction and even be able to hold the abstinence for a while. It’s as if you are rock climbing and find yourself on the rock face holding on for dear life. Can you find a safe way down"?

Laughlin refers to the Addictive Personality Paradigm program as the "the safe way down." And, to go the safe way down, you need to heal the cause that brings you pain.
