New Insight Into How Immune Cells Are Formed

After several attempts by various scientists and researchers, it is finally revealed that they have made a ground-breaking invention - The skin patch. It has the ability, not only to heal but also regrow damaged organs within a short span of time. The technology used to develop this is called (TNT) Tissue Nanotransfection. The technique is reprogramming of skin cells. Inducing pluripotent stem cells are the most common instances of reprogramming where the stem cells such as the blood or skin is converted to an embryonic stem cell by introducing it to some reprogramming genes to it. The method requires the path to be placed on the wound or target area and then removed. During this process, the chip injects a genetic code into the cells of the skin which helps restore the wounded/damaged blood vessels. The research team at Ohio State University were successful in restoring cognitive functions on lab mice with serious damage in its limbs.
The chip injects bits of DNA into the skin pores with just a shot of electricity. It is then, that the DNA drops its identity and reprograms itself to the certain cell type which can be further harvested to fix injured and severed organs. This technological advancement is likely to help in the reconstruction of damaged internal organs, restoration of old and aged tissues and in bringing relief in brain regeneration.
The Ohio team has built this device with silicone of the size of a stamp and it serves the purpose of a reservoir as well as an injector. It's as small as a penny. It is micro-etched with several nano channels that help in connecting with the microscopic dents.
Another path-changing aspect about this invention is that it does not involve expensive cell isolating methods nor does it warrant tedious manipulation in the laboratory. This technology would use the patient's skin itself for the conversion to take place and thus making the human skin a prolific bioreactor.
Researchers believe that if this technology is further bettered, it can help in a massive way in relieving and restoring cognitive functions and also help patients with Alzheimer, Parkinson disease as well as relieve brain tumors.
The team is now waiting for approval of human trials, as it uses the person's own skin cells and doesn't require external medication. This extensive research was led by Dr. Chandan Sen, Director of Centre of regenerative medicine and Cell-based Therapies and was funded by Leslie and Abigail Wexner, Ohio State's Centre for Regenerative Medicine and Cell-Based Therapies and Ohio State's Nanoscale Science and Engineering Centre.
This invention can not only instil hope and faith in a lot of people but also help them recover and heal completely without having to go through an invasive surgery, but instead use their own living cells to heal themselves. According to Dr. Chandan, it will take a little longer to get the approval of FDA to start their human trials, following to the success of which, is the possibility of this technology being available for the masses.

Scientists Claim First CRISPR Editing of Human Embryos in the USA

With CRISPR technology editing the DNA code of human embryo, can we hold our breath for an absolute eradication of inherited disorders like Thalassemia and similar conditions? The answer is still unclear as there is no such publication about the claims on decoding the DNA with CRISP editing technology. As per the MIT Technology Review, the research team led by Shoukhrat Mitalipov at Oregon Health and Science University has been successful in an effort to edit the genes of human embryo using CRISPR editing technology for the first time.
Gene editing has been a controversial practice, but still we had earlier seen three such efforts involving human embryo editing in China.
You can call it genetically modified human embryos or improved embryos sans defective cells with mutations responsible for inherited diseases. Even if DNA editing is controversial, it contributes to the elimination of hereditary illnesses.
Advantages of CRISPR Editing Technology
The genetic manipulation using the CRISPR editing technology in the human embryos seems viable and an effective way to remove defects from the genes, and combat thousands of diseases. The technology uses molecular scissors to influence the performance of the gene sequencing. And as a result, it can eliminate the undesirable components from it. Hence, it paves the way for the replacement of new and improved DNA with the faulty genes.
The claim also raises hopes for families with concerns for the genetic diseases, as it is capable of preventing the further spread of the deadly disorders like malaria in the body.
There is another way for which the finding holds a true and promising possibility for our future generation as well. By editing the gene sequencing in the human embryos, we can expect the "human germline editing". This means when the editing technology will instill embryos of offspring with new mutated cells, the characteristics and features of the edited DNAs will be carried through offspring after offspring. So, the germline gets fixed permanently in each successive generation and follows a hereditary pattern of a family.
With the new CRISPR editing technology, we have no more editing errors known as "mosaicism" as was the case with earlier Chinese experiments. And the desired improvement technique is thought to be followed not only by some, but all the cells in the embryo.
Contradictory Opinion about The Claims
Some critics argue that we absolutely do not need such technology to detect deformities in human embryos and correct them with CRISPR editing technology. That's because the efficacy of the technology is deemed unfit as it is unable to perform as expected if two copies of defective genes are present in the embryos.
On the other hand, we already have preimplantation diagnosis technology or OPD to detect disease causing cells in the embryos. And by using this technique, the faulty genes can be replaced through in vitro fertilization.
Disadvantages
The techniques seem to violate the rule of natures as it advocates for the creation of the designer babies. Rather than editing the disease causing genes, the technique is more likely to foster the enhancement techniques, meaning future parents would seek editing techniques to remove imperfections in their children. And we fear that this approach would lead to a genetic discrimination.
However, if the claims are true, we can free ourselves from a range of diseases, including anemia, Huntington's disease and other genetic diseases through gene modifications. So, let's keep our fingers crossed for a true future possibility.

Study Reveals How to Reprogram Cells in Our Immune System

Our immune system is calibrated to provide us with specific protection shields against harmful diseases, and other conditions too. On being influenced by the excessive active cells and intruder cells, interfering with its physical functions, our immune system is more likely to lose its strength to fight diseases, and as a result it causes a range of autoimmune diseases or different types of leukemia.
Immune cells mostly referred to as T cells can reverse the effects of these defective cells and reinstate the balance through a reprogram technique. With a reprogram technique manipulating the performances of certain immune cells, we can remain unaffected to the prevalence of different diseases, including cancers and psoriasis. This also fosters the development of new treatment options.
This is how the scientists at the Gladstone Institute have expressed about their latest findings. A renowned journal Nature has published about this metabolic mechanism in an elaborate way.
How Much Effective Is the Whole Method Of Reprogramming T Cells?
The whole method of manipulating T cells or immune cells, advocates for the reduction of anti-inflammatory reactions, developed in the immune system through pro-inflammatory genes. So, the inflammation causing factors in the immune system could be curtailed using this modification theory.
On the basis of the findings, there are two types of cells termed as Effector T cells and Regulatory T cells. These two cells play a key role in regulating our whole immune system. The Effector T cells build a shield against the pathogens so as to protect us from the vulnerability to infections, once the immune system gets charged up. The Regulatory T cells on the other hand, restrict further attacks of the pathogens to the healthy parts of our body.
With Regulatory T cells being converted into Effector T cells under the influence of reprogramming technique, a molecule drug appears to be a great precursor in the whole process. So, this method seems to be effective in converting one cell into another cell type.
The conversion methods show promise to find the etiology of the disease, especially auto-immune diseases, making it possible to eradicate the diseases from its root. Say, when effector T cells are charged up excessively in the body in the presence of autoimmune disease, the T cells expose the body to harmful effects. But by converting these Regulatory T cells, the balance of the immune system can be reinstated, followed by the reduction of hyperactivity.
Treatment for Immune-Oncology
Another way, the study is intensifying our hopes against the deadly effects of cancers and tumor related disorders. We can achieve a better outcome for immune-oncology and cancer treatments. The process is ineffective in influencing the cancer cells though; it defies its attacks on the activation of the immune system.
Since cancer cells seem to be stronger to influence Regulatory T cells, they make a room in the immune system for the growth, and hence, the detection becomes quite tough. But, the findings could help us in detecting cancerous cells and destroying them by strengthening the immune system through a conversion of Effector T cells from Regulatory T cells.
More Scopes for Stem Cell Therapies
It also brings a revolutionary milestone for stem cell therapies. With the development of Regulatory T cells, we could reverse the effects of graft-versus-host-disease, and also make our body adjust to the newly-transplanted cells.
With a reprogram technology for immune system, we could defend ourselves from a range of diseases, once which were termed as unavoidable medical cases. Hence, we can live our dream to make a disease-free world in the future.

How to Make 200k By Staying Healthy

Staying healthy seems like a punishment to many until it is accompanied by the opportunity to earn you 200k.
Given that both cost savings and staying healthy are desirable but challenging aspects with an impact on your financial wellbeing, several approaches can be employed to ensure that both are achieved seamlessly without discarding the other.
Here are some of the approaches to staying healthy and earn 200k in cost savings and as extra income from various incentivized wellness programs.
  1. Insurance discount
Insurance premiums are periodically deducted in your income to facilitate payment of medical bills in case you fall ill. Some insurance providers encourage healthy living among their clients so as to reduce the cost of claims. Customers who stay healthy benefit from discounts on premium payable or cashback refunds. Some insurance providers give up to 15% as a refund to customers who exhibit healthy living in their activities and medical records.
  1. Paid wellness challenges
Several wellness challenge applications that encourages healthy living by incentivising the entire process using financial rewards exist on the market. Subscribers commit to a programme and set a goal which upon being met will be paid with cash and cash equivalents. However, if the subscriber fails to meet the target, for example losing 500 calories in a week, the application deducts an agreed amount from their committed funds. This approach provides both positive and negative motivation aimed at encouraging healthy living.
  1. Alternative workout
The average gym membership cost is approximated at $58 a month, exclusive of the extra charges such as the registration/initiation fee and other fringe costs. It translates to roughly as high as $1000 a year depending on the location. Earn this $1000 by using alternative workout regimes with equipment that are freely available in your house or engage in outdoor activities and freely access public facilities.
  1. Cycling to work
The average commuting cost and time in America is $10 and 25 minutes respectively. This translates to an annual cost of $2600. Cycling to work not only eliminates this cost but it also provides you with an ample 50 minute mental and physical workout to and from work.
  1. Go veggie
You can save up to $25 a week or $1200 annually by omitting meat and meat products in your meals. Increased intake of vegetables not only helps you to stay healthy but stopping meat consumption also boost the 'health' of your wallet through cost savings.
  1. Befriend technology
Wearable gadgets and smart watches have inbuilt healthy living applications that tracks physical activities such as walking, the heart rate, calories burned or added, etc. This data can be synchronized to other stakeholders such as retail stores and businesses that encourage healthy living, and the user earns points that are converted into cash discount redeemable at the store. It pays, literally, when you stay active and healthy, and within 1-2 years of staying healthy you can make up to 200k. Staying healthy and being physical active saves you money in the in the long run (pun intended).

How You Can Prevent Vitamin D Deficiency

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin which is produced when your skin is exposed to the sun. It can also be found in some foods and it is notorious for helping the body to absorb calcium from foods in order to maintain healthy bone cells. It also sustains muscle health, boosts cell growth, curtail inflammation, enhances immune system and regulates blood pressure.
Vitamin D deficiency is caused when your serum vitamin D level is below 20 nanograms/millimeter (ng/ml). It can also occur when there is an insufficiency of the vitamin in your diet or your body cannot absorb and metabolize the ones you consume.
Furthermore, if you live in a place with a high latitude, you may be at more risk of vitamin D deficiency because you may have less access to the sun's ultraviolet-B (UVB) rays. Staying too much indoors is also a contributing factor and if you live in a highly-polluted territory, you may have a lesser access to sun's rays. The use of excessive sunscreen on your skin to block UV rays may also be a contributory factor while those with darker skin types need more exposure.
It is unsafe to self-diagnose a vitamin D deficiency because its symptoms are similar to many other ailments. Hence, it is very important to conduct a laboratory test in order to establish the ailment. However, some symptoms that may be noticed are weak bones, depression, chronic pain, rising blood pressure, exhaustion even with adequate sleep, unexplained infertility, weakness of the muscle, just to mention a few.
Boosting your vitamin D levels is as easy as ABC. You can take over-the-counter supplements or multivatimin preparations, while the consumption of foods like salmon, tuna, cheese, liver, egg yolk, milk, cereals, etc., is advisable. It is very important to expose your skin to sunlight and if you have a history of skin cancer or you have a very pale skin, you should speak with a medical professional to know whether you are fit for sun exposure.
Moreover, you should consider maintaining a healthy body weight and get involved in an outdoor exercise every day. Those with liver, kidney or gut problems should monitor their medical condition properly and get the necessary treatment. Infants who are being breast-fed may not get enough vitamin D since they may not be exposed to sunlight, hence, they can be given supplements in order to make up for this.

Causes and Treatment of Iron-Deficiency Anemia

Anemia is a body condition characterized by low-level of hemoglobin in the red blood cells. Iron-deficiency anemia occurs when your body does not have enough iron and since iron is responsible for producing hemoglobin, the rest of your body will not be able to get the required oxygen for daily activities.
There are many signs to suggests that you have an iron-deficiency anemia; shortness of breath, general fatigue, pale skin, dizziness, cold hands and feet, headaches, tingling feeling in the legs, just to mention a few. Many people may not be aware of this condition until they actually go for a medical test.
Causes
If you consume too little iron over a long period of time, it may lead to a deficiency in your body. Menstruating and pregnant women are also at a high risk of shortage due to blood loss during menstruation and childbirth. Internal bleeding caused by stomach ulcer, polyps in colon or intestines, regular intake of pain relievers like aspirin, can also put you at risk. Some disorders or surgeries that affect the intestines can be a source of interference with the ability of your body to absorb iron.
Treatment
There are many treatment options available for iron-deficiency anemia. You can take iron supplements and if possible, you can take them on an empty stomach so that they can be easily absorbed by the body. There may also be need for you to take them for a long period of time depending on your level of deficiency.
Furthermore, you should ensure that your diet is rich in iron. Foods like red meat, nuts, dark green leafy vegetables, cereals, dried fruits, etc., can be of great help. You should also take citrus fruits because they are rich in vitamin C which helps your body to absorb iron. If excessive bleeding is the cause of the deficiency, you will need to consult a competent medical practitioner in order to help you stop the bleeding. Blood transfusion is also an option if there is an urgent need to boost the iron level.
Prevention
You can prevent iron-deficiency anemia by eating foods rich in iron and vitamin C. Mothers should give breast milk to their children and, if possible, infant formula fortified with iron. Foods rich in iron include meat, like pork, chicken, lamb and beef, beans, pumpkin and squash seeds, eggs, seafood, such as clams, sardines, shrimp and oysters, iron-fortified dry and instant cereals, leafy greens, such as spinach raisins and other dried fruit.

How You Can Become Taller Naturally

Your height has a lot to do with so many factors like your genes, diet, age, activity levels and so on. As a result of this, there are some things you can do to boost your height if you really desire it and if you are still at the growing stage.
Eat a balanced diet
You should consume a balanced diet and avoid too much fatty foods that will make you look plumpy because you will look shorter. It is also important for you to make sure that your diet consists of lean protein like fish, soy, white poultry meat, etc., in order to enhance muscle growth and virile bones. You also need enough zinc from foods like pumpkin, oysters, peanuts, just to mention a few. Vitamin D also promotes bone and muscle growth, and you can get this from milk and cereals.
Get enough sleep every night
Your body grows when you sleep, hence, it is important to sleep very well at night. If you are a teenager or younger than 20, you should get between 9 and 11 hours of sleep every night. Getting good, sound sleep will boost the production of human growth hormone (HGH) which is naturally produced through the pituitary gland, particularly when you are deeply asleep.
Exercise regularly
Regular exercising can assist you to grow taller during your teen years and in puberty. You should get a workout for at least 30 minutes everyday and you can join a gym in order to get access to exercising as well as muscle-building machines. You can also become a member of a sports team and take advantage of the competitiveness to exercise. If you can't get yourself to do all these, you can walk around and you will be amazed at how easy it is for you to exercise. Walk to school, grocery, library, etc. and before you realize it, you are already working out.
Do not stunt your growth
Even though there is a limit to what you can do to increase your height, there are many steps you can take to avoid shortening your height by environmental influences. Drugs and alcohol are believed to be partly responsible for stunted growth, especially if you take them while you are young. Caffeine consumption is also linked to not getting enough sleep which may hinder your normal growth.
Expect to be in your 20s before you stop growing
It is very important for you to know that you will get to your twenties before you will stop growing. If you are still at the puberty stage or under 18, you are definitely still growing and you should work hard not to stunt your growth.

How You Can Get Started With Essential Oils

Essential oils are compounds derived from the roots, leaves, barks, seeds or peels of plants. They assist plants to ward off pests and stay healthy. They have many physical, mental as well as emotional benefits on man and are very powerful, hence, they should be used in moderation.
It is very important to check the quality of the essential oil you want to get because quality can be affected by soil conditions, use of pesticides/chemicals, inconsistency of altitude and so on. It is also crucial to avoid adulterated products in order not to add salt to injury. Packaging, storage and handling should also be considered because the exposure of the oil to heat, light as well as oxygen can lead to chemical degeneration. They should be stored in firmly closed, darkened glass jar and placed in a cool, dry place in order to ensure that the quality is maintained at all times.
Furthermore, there are lots of advantages in using essential oils and some of them are; increased energy, improved sleep, reduction of pain, reduction of stress, relief of sore joints and muscles, digestive relief, improved mood, boosted focus and concentration, just to mention a few. They can also be used in DIY cleaning products, personal care items and beauty recipes.
Essential oils can be used in a variety of ways. They can be inhaled in order to heighten the senses and bring the body as well as mind into a positive state. Some oils are safe to apply directly on the skin like the soles, ears, abdomen, upper back and so on. Some of them can also be consumed as a dietary supplement but this is dependent on the quality of the oil. However, it is very important to follow the recommended dosage and seek the advice of a health professional before taking them internally.
Essential oil can be extracted from lavender, frankincense, peppermint, lemon, eucalyptus and so on. Lavender helps in soothing stress, insomnia, allergies as well as cuts and burns. Frankincense is good for treating arthritis, wounds, dry skin and boosting cell regeneration. Peppermint assists in fighting headache, heartburn, nausea, sore muscle and itchy skin. Lemon handles sore throat, cold, depression and alkalizes your body. Eucalyptus is wonderful for treating asthma, itchy scalp, sinus pressure or pain, colds and flu.
You should always endeavor to check the label of your essential oil in order to be sure of the safe manner to use it. It is also vital to double-check and ensure that you use pure oil and not a synthetic one.

Are You Eating Your Way to Health or Into an Early Grave?

Which is it?
In the U.S., almost 16 million people have diabetes. More than 50 million adults have doctor-diagnosed arthritis. Over 600,000 people die each year of heart disease. Dementia and Alzheimer's are on the rise, and digestive disorders are commonplace.
According to the National Institutes of Health: "More than 35% of U.S. adults are obese, and more than 34% are overweight."
Do I have your attention now?
Good.
Diabetes, arthritis, heart disease, dementia, and digestive disorders are out of control in the U.S. People are suffering in silence and scared. They don't know where to turn or what to do.
The Problem
Food.
People are eating their way into an early grave with foods laced with additives, preservatives, chemicals, sweeteners, and fats.
The Solution
Food.
As positive thinker, Norman Vincent Peale sagely expressed: "Every problem has in it the seeds of its own solution." Therefore, if food is the problem, it's also the solution.
The good news is that once you know how certain foods respond within your body (which are beneficial and which cause conflict); you can straightforwardly eat your way back to health. No matter what your current state of health or energy level, it's rarely too late to turn it around.
That's what I did. In my 20s, 30s, and 40s I struggled with my health. It declined so alarmingly over that 20-year period that I knew I was eating my way to an early grave. I had to turn my health around. I did that by eating my way to heath.
Now in my mid-50s, I'm in the best health of my life!
If I can do it: You can do it.
Eating Your Way to Life
There are three key nutrients and vitamins essential to achieving optimal health: Protein, B vitamins, and greens. Here's why:
1. Protein.
Studies show that eating a high-protein diet has some specific health benefits. Not only does it help you maintain and lose weight, but it also works to stabilize your blood sugar levels, improve cognition, reduce 'brain fog'; boost your energy levels, and support your muscles and bones. Organs, tissues, muscles, and hormones are all made from protein.
There are so many proteins from which to choose!
Here are some fabulous protein sources: Oats, grains, quinoa, nuts, dairy, tofu, eggs, fish, beans, and meat. You can also get your protein by drinking a protein powder smoothie.
The key to protein is to eat it every 2-3 hours.
2. B Vitamins.
Everyone needs B vitamins. However, most people come up short on these essential nutrients. This not only slows down your metabolism, making it hard to lose weight, it also causes energy slumps. B vitamins help your body make energy from the food you eat. They also form red blood cells.
There are eight B vitamins:
a. B1 (thiamine)
b. B2 (riboflavin)
c. B3 (niacin)
d. B5 (pantothenic acid)
e. B6 (pyridoxine)
f. B7 (biotin)
g. B9 (folate)
h. B12 (cobalamin)
These foods are high in B vitamins: brown rice, 100% whole wheat bread and pasta, non-GMO organic soybeans and other soy products, bananas, potatoes, and Shiitake mushrooms.
3. Greens.
The importance of eating greens cannot be overlooked. Imagine food so powerful that it can help you lose weight, reduce your risk of cancer, make you look younger, strengthen your bones, and help you live longer. Pretty nifty, huh!
Super-woman status is achieved with greens because most greens contain a mixture of vitamins A, C, K, B9, iron, and potassium. Plus, most have protein and B vitamins in them.
Here are some delicious ways to get your greens:
a. Eat a salad a day.
b. Add steamed broccoli, zucchini, and cabbage to any meal.
c. Have artichokes for dinner.
d. Eat raw celery and green peppers as snacks.
e. Mix kale and spinach into a green powder smoothie.
When you start eating your way to health, making the decision about what foods to eat is overwhelming. That's why it's helpful to work with a nutritionist or health consultant to design an eating plan specifically tailored for you.
With so many people in the U.S. suffering from diabetes, dealing with digestive disorders, struggling weight issues, and going to an early grave from heart disease, don't you owe it to yourself to stop this from happening? I did. And I know you can do it too by eating your way to health. Start eating your way to health: The quality of your life depends upon it.

Antioxidant Products

This effectively minimizes rancidity, retards lipid oxidation, without any damage to the sensory or nutritional properties, resulting in maintaining quality and shelf-life of meat products. However, intrinsic factors are available in live muscle to prevent lipid oxidation. These factors are often lost after slaughtering during conversion of muscle to meat, primary/secondary processing, handling, or storage of meat products, necessitating further supplementation with extrinsic antioxidants.
For this reason, synthetic antioxidants, such as butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), were extensively used to delay, retard, or prevent the lipid oxidation by scavenging chain-carrying peroxyl radicals or suppressing the formation of free radicals. However, because of the concern over the safety of these synthetic compounds, extensive work is being carried out to find novel and naturally occurring compounds to delay the oxidative degradation of lipids, improve quality, and maintain the nutritional value of foods. Thus, natural antioxidants have greater application potential in the meat industry because of the consumers' acceptability over the synthetic antioxidants. However, the application of plant extracts, herbs, spices, and essential oils with antioxidant effects is still distant for the major reasons of limited data about their effects in different meat products.
The meat industry is demanding antioxidants from natural sources to replace synthetic antioxidants because of the negative health consequences or beliefs regarding some synthetic antioxidants. Fruits, vegetables, by-products, and other plant materials provide good alternatives. Some of these antioxidants, apart from oxidation inhibition, may also affect other quality attributes positively or negatively, and ultimately affect consumer acceptability of the product. It has been shown that treatment with some natural sources can cause changes in the color of meat or meat products. Spices have shown to affect the flavor profile of treated meat and poultry products. Depending on the product, these flavors may be viewed as negatively or as positively by sensory panels. Some ingredients negatively affect the technological properties of meat and meat products, such as texture and emulsion properties. The safe edible use of these natural sources also depends on their health-related issues because some of these may also contain anti-nutritional or even toxicological factors. Thus, while establishing a new source of natural antioxidant for use in the meat and meat product at small, medium, or commercial level, following should be considered:
· The in vitro antioxidant activity should be based on various different analytical techniques. The activity should also be confirmed in targeted products during various processing conditions; thus, the effects of cooking, pressure, product ingredients, and so on, on antioxidant potential should be confirmed.
· The active ingredients/molecules of crude, concentrated or/and raw material should also be identified, and efficient conditions for extraction/separation of that particular molecule possessing potent antioxidant activity should be studied.
· Apart from oxidation inhibition, other product attributes should also be considered. Thus, the overall cumulative effect of identified antioxidants should be evaluated in different products before reaching to a conclusion. For example, if one source is a very potent antioxidant, it can also affect the color and sensory properties negatively and lower the acceptability of the final product; then a proper conclusion should be drawn to establish these negative implications. Some natural antioxidants are also sensitive to light, temperature, and pH which results in reduction of antioxidant potential. Thus, future studies should also be directed towards exploring the storage and processing environment effects on the antioxidative potential of natural antioxidants.
· Economics is the other main factor on which sustainability of any industry depends. Thus, economical extraction conditions should be well addressed relative to yield, time, infrastructure requirements, treatment materials, as well as the availability of natural sources. The correlation between economics of antioxidant use and economics of oxidation spoilage should also be considered before making any conclusion for the meat industry.
· Mere conclusions based on in vitro, in vivo, or in producto antioxidant activity is not suitable when new unconventional antioxidant sources are discovered. Thus, nutritional and toxicological studies (in vitro/in vivo) must be done to ascertain the safe edible use of these natural sources. This is the most important point because the meat industry is rejecting synthetic antioxidants on the basis of negative health-related issues; thus, while accepting new natural antioxidants, these must be analyzed for the same health-related consequences.
