No
matter how wealthy we are or how lavish our lifestyle is, if we do not
have a healthy body then nothing else really matters. One can just not
live a 'happy' life with a body full of diseases. We give a lot of
importance to plenty of irrelevant things which ends up giving us
temporary happiness and nothing more. We often tend to forget that our
health is the most important thing and we should spend a lot of time in
taking care of it so that we can live a healthy and a longer life which
is far away from diseases, after all who likes going to the hospitals
and consuming bitter medicines?
Things to Do For a Healthy Body-
1)
Eat a balanced diet. Make sure that you don't consume anything in
excess. Your life shouldn't be just revolving around junk food. Include
green vegetables and fruits in your everyday diet.
2) Make sure to
involve yourself in some or the other physical activity. It is not
necessary to join a gym as there are many other options like jogging,
dancing, brisk walking et cetera. It helps in removal of toxins from the
body and keeps us healthy and active.
3) Keep yourself away from
things like alcohol and smoke as it might give you a temporary pleasure
at the moment but will definitely harm your body in the future. If
you're using all this to reduce stress then try to replace it with
better options like meditation and soothing music.
4) Have a lot
of water and sleep well. Try finishing 6-7 bottles every day as it keeps
the body hydrated specially during the scorching heat of the summer
season.
Why Is Good Health Important?
1) A good and a healthy body will help you to have a cheerful mood throughout the day.
2) It will save you from paying visits to the doctors.
3) You will have a stress free life without any kind of diseases.
4) A good health will lead you to a happy and a peaceful mind which is very necessary.
5) Having a good health will not stop you from working for long hours.
6) A good health will allow you to enjoy all the good things of life.
Therefore,
good health is indeed one of the greatest blessings of life and we
shouldn't overlook this beautiful blessing. One should cherish it every
now and the by taking special care of it.

Who Needs a Liver Transplant and What Are the Signs and Symptoms?
The
liver is one of the vital organs in the human body. This essentially
means that one cannot live without the liver. It serves many critical
functions in the body that include metabolism of drugs and toxins,
removing degradation products and synthesis of important proteins and
enzymes.
The blood enters the liver in two channels - the hepatic artery and the portal vein. They bring nutrients and oxygen to liver cells. These are also known as hepatocytes and bile ducts. Blood leaves the liver via the hepatic veins and drains into the inferior vena cava and immediately enters the heart. The liver is also responsible to make bile which is a liquid that helps dissolve the fat. Each hepatocyte creates bile and the bile ducts take it to the hepatic duct that transports the bile to the intestine.
Who needs a liver transplant?
A liver transplant is a process by which a failing liver is surgically replaced with one that is normal and healthy. A liver transplant is the only cure for a failing liver. Here are some of the conditions that may require a liver transplant:
Acute liver failure
Acute liver failure occurs when an originally healthy liver suffers a massive injury. There are a number of other reasons that can lead to liver inefficiency. Sometimes viral infections can also be a cause of liver failures. The onset of skin yellowing is the first sign of liver disease.
Signs and symptoms of decompensate liver disease
Gastrointestinal bleeding
As the liver becomes scarred, the resistance to portal blood flow increases and pressure builds up on the portal venous system.
Fluid retention
One function of the liver is to synthesize many proteins of the proteins that are circulating in the blood stream including albumin. Albumin and other proteins in the blood retain fluid in the vascular space by exerting pressure. The low levels of albumin forces the fluid out of the blood stream. This fluid cannot be reabsorbed. This fluid accumulates in the tissues of the body and the body cavities. The most common areas where it accumulates are the abdominal area. The fluid can also accumulate in the legs and the chest cavity. This fluid retention is limited by dietary salt intake and medications. Intermittent drainage through insertion of a needle into the abdominal or chest cavity is also a possible treatment.
Encephalopathy
Failure of liver to clear ammonia and other toxins from the blood allows these type of toxins to accumulate. This results in cognitive dysfunction that ranges from disturbed sleep and mild infusion of coma too.
Jaundice
It is a known fact that one of the main functions of liver is to eliminate the degradation products of haemoglobin. Bilirubin is one of the products that is excreted by the lever. When the liver fails, this bilirubin is not excreted from the body and the levels in the blood stream increase. The blood and other tissues of the body appear yellow in color.
People with any of these conditions must immediately be treated for liver either by medication or by a transplant as suggested by the doctor.

Effective Treatments To Control Bleeding Quickly
Everyone
has had a cut, a nosebleed, or a tooth pulled. Whatever the reason, any
time a blood vessel is torn, blood leaks into the tissue. Usually, this
bleeding stops within minutes. Certain substances (factors) in your
blood, together with special blood cells (platelets), react quickly to
make your blood clot. If you have a problem with your platelets, your
blood will not clot properly, and you will continue to bleed even after
minor injuries. Bleeding may occur anywhere in your body with possible
acute blood loss. Abnormal clotting, or the lack of clotting, may be
caused by malnutrition, infections, drug reactions, anemia, leukemia, or
inherited disorders like hemophilia.
If your blood vessels are weakened or damaged for any reason, you may bruise easily. The bruises that some women notice on their thighs or hips called "devils pinches" are usually not serious, but should always be evaluated by a doctor. Elderly people with fragile skin may also bruise easily, especially on the backs of their hands and on their forearms. That is usually not a cause for concern.
Probable Treatments of Bleeding
If you are bleeding heavily (hemorrhaging), the first step is obviously to stop the blood loss and determine the cause.
Implantation Bleeding
Implantation bleeding can deem as an intimation of pregnancy. This particular bleeding shows one of the earliest signs of pregnancy that occurs for almost 1 out of 3 women who conceive. You can have a better idea for implantation bleeding if you see pink or brown spots.

If you are bleeding heavily (hemorrhaging), the first step is obviously to stop the blood loss and determine the cause.
- If possible, apply direct pressure to the bleeding site.
- If the bleeding is from an arm or leg injury, you may use a tourniquet, but loosen it every few minutes.
- If your gums are bleeding, try packing with cotton gauze temporarily.
- For nosebleeds, lean forward and pinch your nostrils. Never bend your head back; avoid swallowing the blood.
- If your bleeding is caused by a clotting abnormality, you may need tests to determine the exact problem.

Getting To Grips With Heat Stroke
Summer
is upon us, and it has been bad. With temperatures soaring up to over 40
degrees, it is hard to get through the day without having the air
conditioning unit on or having the ceiling fan on at full speed. For
those of us who venture out into the sun, it is important to take
certain precautions.
Heat stroke is a worrying problem that can affect those of us who brave the heat. Here, we take a look at this problem and how you can prevent it.
What is heat stroke?
Heat stroke is a condition where the body's temperature regulation system fails to maintain normal body temperature in the sweltering heat.
It is a serious condition that requires emergency management in hospital. It usually affects people over the age of 50 yrs, but we have seen even younger individuals affected these days.
What happens in heat stroke?
The normal body temperature is 98.4 degrees Fahrenheit, or around 37 degrees Celsius. This temperature is maintained through a complex system called the thermoregulatory system in the brain.
When exposed to extreme heat, dehydration that accompanies the heat can make this system fail to regulate body temperature. As a consequence, the body overheats to a temperature of over 105 degrees F, leading to the shutting down of brain function and collapse. This is called heat stroke.
What are the symptoms?
The first symptom can be fainting. However, some people experience other symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, headache (throbbing), hot skin, dizziness, light headedness and occasionally a fast (or slow) heartbeat.
Advanced or complicated cases may present with seizures or coma, and some cases may demonstrate behavioural changes and confusion.
Who is at risk?
Heat stroke is common in a certain group of individuals. The most susceptible individuals include infants, elderly people (especially those who have heart disease, lung disease, diabetes or kidney disease), individuals who work out in the sun, children left unattended in cars and athletes.
Heat stroke is either exertional (in those who exercise or work in the heat), or non-exertional (seen in infants or in those with an underlying medical illness).
How is a heat stroke victim treated?
Heat stroke is an emergency condition that requires immediate hospitalisation and treatment.
The first step in treating a person with heat stroke is to cool them down.
Get the victim to a shady area first. Remove clothing and apply cool water or begin tepid sponging if possible. Fan the victim if possible, and place ice packs under the armpits and in the groin.
Offer the victim a cool beverage, ideally water or any juice available immediately. Do not give them drinks that contain alcohol or caffeine. Make sure you monitor the temperature of the affected individual using a thermometer, and continue cooling till the temperature reduces to around 100-101 degrees Fahrenheit.
Call an ambulance and arrange for the patient to be transferred immediately as a matter of urgency. Preventing heat stroke Avoid dehydration by drinking a good amount of water regularly.
If you have to participate in sports, then make sure you have water or your favourite sports drink at hand at all times.
Replenish electrolytes by using sports drinks if you sweat excessively in the heat. ORS is a good rehydration solution. Wear light colored, loose fitting clothes whenever possible.
Simple steps can prevent this fatal condition.

Fecal Impaction Constipation Symptoms & Ways for Softening Stubborn Hardened Stools
Fecal
impaction what is it? The medical terms used for specific diseases and
conditions these days have people struggle to understand just exactly
what it is they suffer from. It's simple however to get round this. You
have a tongue in your head use it and ask who ever has given you your
diagnosis to explain matters in a way you will understand the problem
you have. Any approach to cure a disease with no understanding of that
specific disease can cause serious complications to unfold.
For example: fecal impaction simply means a big mass of dry hard stool lodged in the rectum. Matters can get complicated from not knowing what you are dealing with. Why complicate things by holding back from saying 'Doctor what exactly is it I have and what should I expect in the way of treatment'.
Constipation in a nut shell means passing stools becomes a troublesome time for the patient, and for some people a feared time depending on how severe their constipation. They experience not passing stools as often or as easily as to what they are used too. In constipation the stool becomes hard and dry making it difficult to pass thus causing discomfort.
Fecal impaction can be the result of constipation that's been with you longer than anticipated. Even while taking laxatives. Things can worsen after withdrawing laxatives all of a sudden. It's now the muscles of the intestines struggle to do the job they are supposed to do like moving stools on their own.
Things that make a person vulnerable to severe constipation:
• You are unable to move around or do light exercise. Being sat in a chair or lay in bed for a considerable amount of time is big risk factors.
• Brain disease, even a damaged nervous system can harm nerve muscles leading to the intestines.
• Specific drugs can be responsible for slowing stool movement. Passing a stool through the bowels is sometimes near impossible due to certain drugs.
• Anticholinergics is also another problematic cause affecting the interaction of bowel nerves and muscles.
• Certain medication for treating diarrhea taken too often can cause constipation, as well as narcotic pain medicine. For instance: methadone and codeine.
Symptoms
• Stomach cramps and bloating
• Liquid drip or leaks from the back passage
• Sudden gushes of watery diarrhea
• Bleeding from back passage
• Semi-formed stools
• Straining
Other possible symptoms
• Pressure on the bladder. This causes the patient to lose control over their bladder
• Back pain in the lower region
• Rapid heartbeat or possible feeling light headed from straining when using the toilet
Noticeable changes in bowel habits will encourage your Doctor to suggest a colonoscopy to rule out colon or rectal cancer.
Treatment:
A common approach to remove the mass is to use a warm mineral oil enema. This helps soften the stool. However, an enema may not be powerful enough to remove a large hardened mass, so another way may have to be undertaken.
Previous attempts to dislodge any mass that fails--manual assistance is often endorsed. Hands are used to crumble the mass. The person assigned to treat you will insert one or two fingers into the rectum slowly massaging the mass for it to break up into manageable pieces to pass.
Suppositories are inserted into the rectum between attempts to help release the stool.
Not everyone will undergo surgery, having said that, an overly widened colon (megacolon), or complete blocked bowel is another matter where emergency removal is necessary.
Past sufferers of this condition will need a bowel retraining program. Your doctor will examine you and ask about your past diet, bowel routine, and use of medications and other medical problems in general. After all the information is gathered and checked, it will be used to help prevent future problems. Professional input will include advising you about the healthy changes you can make to your diet. Other advice will make you aware of the positives over the negatives to protecting you from further episodes.
In the first paragraph I mentioned not understanding certain matters. Do not hesitate to ask who is treating your fecal impaction. Your doctor wants to help and has all the answers. Got a question? Ask it.

How Chiropractic Helps With TMJ Treatment
Jaw pain? Clicking in the jaw? Having trouble chewing hard foods like apples and nuts. Perhaps you have a TMJ problem.
People often ask me if chiropractic can help with TMJ syndrome. The short answer is Yes! Read on to discover how chiropractic helps with TMJ treatment.
First, lets discuss what TMJ syndrome or TMJ dysfunction is. TMJ stands for temporalmandibular joint.
TMJ syndrome is an issue or problem with the jaw joints. A person with TMJ problems may have pain or clicking in the jaw joints or may notice that their jaw deviates or shifts to one side when they open their jaw.
What Causes TMJ Syndrome
TMJ problems can be caused from:
How Does a Chiropractor Assess for TMJ Syndrome
As a chiropractor, when we assess for TMJ syndrome we need to asses for the dysfunction of the TMJ joints before we know as a chiropractor if can correct or adjust for it.
So there's a couple of things that I look for when I have a patient in my office with TMJ complaints.
The first thing I do as a chiropractor is I look for the motion of the jaw to see if the jaw is opening properly or to see if is deviating to one side. With normal jaw motion, the jaw should not deviated to one side or the other. The jaw should track straight when it opens in a normal situation.
When the jaw does deviate to one side upon opening, this test is positive for TMJ dysfunction.
As an example, if the patient opens their jaw and it tracks to the right side, this is positive for a TMJ problem. However, the problem is not only on the right side of the jaw. In fact, the problem is on both the right and the left jaw joint because both sides of the TMJ move together. I'll explain this in a moment.
The next thing we are going to ask the patient to do is called the Three Finger Test. Normally, if your jaw opens normally and wide and the jaw if functioning well, you should be able to put three stacked fingers into your mouth. This indicates normal jaw motion.
If you can't put three fingers in your mouth and you have opening up the mouth then this will cause you to fail the Three Finger Test, which is another indication for a TMJ problem.
Now, why did I say that both sides of the jaw are related well this is something when the jaw deviates to one side? This is a very important principle that an astute therapist, doctor or chiropractor needs to be aware of because the jaw motion occurs in two ways. There is a rotation of the jaw when you open your jaw and there is also a translation (sliding) of the jaw.
So, if the jaw deviates to the right side, the rotation component on the right side is normal but the sliding or translation component is blocked. On the opposite side (left), the translation component is good but the rotation component is missing. What does this mean from a correction or treatment perspective?
From a correction perspective, the chiropractor will need to correct both sides of the jaw-both sides of the TMJ joints. Otherwise you're not going to make an effective correction.
The other part I am going to do as a chiropractor which is very important is to assess the vertebra of the neck to assess for spinal function. What I am looking for is any shifts on the spine or any blockages in the motion of the spinal bones. These shifts or blockages in spinal motion is called a spinal misalignment or a subluxation. I especially exam the very top of the neck. What I am looking for is any restrictions in motion in the upper neck spinal bones right at the base of the skull. If there is a restriction in the upper neck, then that will affect the function of TMJ.
So when chiropractors treat TMJ problems, they will certainly do assessments and corrections of the spine first and then they will finish off with a TMJ adjustment.
Chiropractic adjustments of the neck and spine are gentle and very effective in improving motion and function.
The same is true for chiropractic adjustments of the TMJ. Some chiropractors will use a chiropractic table that has a gentle drop piece that assists with the correction and adjustment of the TMJ and the spine.
To recap, it is crucial that both sides of the TMJ joint is adjusted appropriately and in the right direction to address both the rotation component and the translation component of the TMJ motion.
Chiropractic treatment for TMJ is highly beneficial and very effective. Patients find it useful because they are able to open their mouth fully again with no discomfort, pain, and with improved motion. This allows them to eat normally without being restricted in the types of foods they want to eat.

Can Long Standing Injuries Be Healed?
When we
often think of going to see a doctor we think of what is currently
affecting us, and what symptoms are being presented. Over time, if we
cannot seem to find the right path to healing for a particular ailment,
we often become resigned to living with it as if it is incurable.
We tolerate the pain or discomfort and go through our daily lives the best we can.
The truth is that health is our natural state.
The body will try everything with what it has to work with in order to survive and do it the best that it can. This can be true in injuries, where the gate or movement is thrown off, other body parts will overcompensate to try to even you out. Over time that can cause undue wear and tear on your body as a whole. It also holds true in nutritional deficiency. The body will begin to try to pull what it needs internally, even from bone and organs which can cause a host of problems.
If you are experiencing chronic ongoing health issues that feel like a puzzle you simply cannot solve, you are likely frustrated and about at a point where you feel like throwing in the towel and giving up.
Western medicine is often quite good for diagnostic; it isn't quite as successful when it comes to successful curing treatments. Choosing to go the natural route and work with your body instead of against it, trying to cover symptoms with medications, is where many who have previously failed, may indeed succeed.
Through a combination of nutrition and chiropractic realignments you can allow your nervous system to restore its natural function and your body to be replenished with minerals, vitamins, and nutrients it may be missing. Nutritional Response Testing can be utilized to find out what exactly you are deficient in if you have elevated toxicity levels that need to be cleared or any other personalized issues that are coming into play.
While healing isn't instant, you will begin to notice results fairly quickly as your body is given back the power to restore itself.
Older injuries may take more time to heal. But don't give up. You didn't develop them overnight. Sometimes scar tissue has built up, degeneration has occurred, and inflammation is present - all must be addressed. Visiting your local Nutrition Specialist & Chiropractor will get you back on the road to recovery.
